Suicide: Unemployed men at higher risk

Men who are unemployed are two to three times more likely to commit suicide.

Men are 50% more likely to be unemployed and twice as likely to be long-term unemployed.

Men are nearly half as likely to be unemployed as women accounting for 1.54 million of the 2.67 million people unemployed.

In total, more than half a million men (546,000) have been unemployed or more that a year (accounting for 64% of the long-term unemployed).
